Student loans for living expenses?

I'm a full time Nursing student living in San Francisco. I work 32 hours a week and am paying for my school and car loan. I need help financially. I'm one of those people stuck in the middle - I'm not poor enough to qualify for school grants yet I'm not rich enough to pay all my bills off without going into overdraft sometimes. I just finished applying for FAFSA, but I would like an additional loan for college students who need $ for living expenses.

Basically, I need a student loan that will help me pay for rent. Preferably a loan that will give me more than $7,000 for a year. FAFSA only gives about $5,000 for undergrads, especially freshmen under 24 (me). $5,000 does not get you very far, especially in SF.

I tried applying for the collegiate loan at Wells Fargo, but I needed a cosigner and my cosigner was rejected.

Does anyone know of any other student loans available? This is a long shot, but does anyone know of other student loans NOT requiring a cosigner? I need one designed for students living off campus. Any help would be really appreciated. Thank you!

Try several lenders to see if you can get a collegiate loan. Chase, Sallie Mae and Citibank are just a few lenders out there. Just because one lender turned you down doesn't mean they all will. Also, loans are for any school expenses: tuition, fees, books, housing, etc. There aren't any that are specifically for housing. So once your tuition and fees are paid, anything left should go to you to use as you need.

Unfortunately the only student loans without cosigners needed are the federal ones. Perhaps you should find a cheaper school, sell your car, or get a room mate or two or three. My mom moved back in with her mother for two years (with 2 little kids) to get her bachelors degree.

Students and parents who must deal with the high cost of a college education have available to them a wide range of student loans. This article offers details on three general types of student loans. Unlike other student loans, application for a specific Stafford Loan should be preceded by the filing of a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA application should be made in the name of the aspiring student.

Like some other student loans, application for the Signature Loan permits the use of a co-signer. In fact, there is a real advantage to applying for a Signature Loan with a co-signer.
