How do student loans work?Do they provide money for living expenses?

For a real State run College that also offers complete Online Degrees such as :Thomas Edison State College in New Jersey, Excelsior College in New York and Charter Oak State College in Connecticut would I be able to obtain Student Loans provide me with money for living expenses as well if I choose to do my Bachelors Online through Distance learning?

most schools don't allow you to receive money for living expenses when you take ALL of your classes online. And the ones that do, usually only let you receive about $1500 or so per semester for livng expenses.

And the way student loans work, the loan money is sent to the school, the school takes out what you owe for tuition and fees and whatever is left over is refunded to you to use for living expenses.
